CHOOSE THE SUPPORT YOUR GROUP NEEDS.
Self-Guided or Hosted Scavenger Hunt?
Both self-guided and hosted scavenger hunts give a group clues to solve and discoveries to share. The useful question is how much help you want with running the activity. Think about the group’s size, the occasion and whether the organizer wants to play or manage the opening and finish.
What self-guided means for the organizer
With a self-guided StrayPics hunt, your teams follow the game using their phones. The organizer chooses the hunt, books the teams and shares the practical meeting details. Your game-access email provides the starting instructions; a payment receipt is a separate message.
You still handle travel, any admission tickets, group supervision and the meal or gathering around the game. One person should be ready to help the group get organized at the start. For a small group that is comfortable following instructions together, that can be a manageable role.
What the onsite host adds
An optional onsite host costs $350 once per booking, not once per team. The add-on includes kickoff, onsite support, extra photos, and a wrap-up and awards ceremony. Choose a date and time at least five days ahead so the hosting can be arranged.
Hosting can be useful when several teams arrive together, when people do not know one another or when the organizer wants help running the shared moments. It does not make venue hire, admission, food or transport part of the game price. Those arrangements remain separate.
Three situations to compare
These examples are planning suggestions, not requirements. A couple can choose support for a special occasion, and a larger group may still prefer self-guided play if it has a clear organizer.
- A couple or small family exploring one route: self-guided play may fit a simple outing with one team.
- A birthday or reunion with several teams: a host can help bring everyone together for the kickoff and finish.
- A group already meeting at its own venue: choose the play-anywhere game first, then decide whether onsite hosting would help the event run smoothly.
Do not confuse planning support with an onsite host
Mission: Teamwork and Ghosted include a dedicated event manager, premium online support, a summary page with photos and leaderboard, and five custom questions. They cost $149 per team of up to six with a three-team minimum. Their event manager is not the same as an onsite host; onsite hosting remains an optional add-on.
Custom-Built Scavenger Hunt includes planning follow-up to collect your celebration details and build personalized content. That format needs five days' notice even without an onsite host. Choose based on the game's content as well as the level of support.
Virtual hosting is already included
Virtual Scavenger Hunt is played online over Zoom, Microsoft Teams or another agreed platform. It costs $99 per team of up to five, with a three-team minimum of $297. A remote host handles kickoff, game guidance and wrap-up as part of that price.
Book a virtual session at least five days ahead and confirm the date, start time and event time zone. The separate $350 onsite host add-on does not apply. For ready-made self-guided in-person hunts, allow at least 24 hours instead. If you are unsure which arrangement fits your group, describe the headcount, setting and occasion before booking.
