Plan a Virtual Scavenger Hunt for Remote Teams
A virtual city scavenger hunt lets remote and hybrid teammates explore city clues together while joining online. It is a city adventure played through a video meeting, guided by a remote host. The planning is mostly about making sure everyone can hear, contribute and join at the right time.
Explain the format in the invitation
Tell participants that they will solve city clues, spot landmark details and compare discoveries in small teams. They do not travel to the city. This is different from a game that sends people around their homes to collect household objects.
StrayPics Virtual Scavenger Hunt includes a live remote host for kickoff, guidance and wrap-up. Zoom, Microsoft Teams or another agreed video platform can be used. The available virtual city and meeting setup are confirmed with the organizer before the session; do not promise a particular city before that confirmation.
Set the date, time zone and team count
Choose a date and start time at least five days ahead. Include the event time zone in the invitation and check how it appears for teammates elsewhere. Confirm the session duration during planning rather than borrowing the timing from an in-person city hunt.
The price is $99 per team of up to five, with a three-team minimum. That makes the minimum booking $297 including remote hosting. Sixteen participants need at least four teams, for $396. Smaller groups still need the three-team booking, so check the format against your headcount before committing.
Make hybrid participation feel like participation
For a hybrid group, think through the room setup before the event. If several colleagues share a room while others join remotely, check that the remote participants can hear the conversation and be heard without competing with side conversations.
Discuss the device and audio arrangement with StrayPics during planning. Do not assume that one laptop at the end of a large table will work for everyone. The aim is for each person to help solve the clues, not simply watch the office group talk.
- Ask participants to use a computer with reliable internet and working audio.
- Check access to the agreed meeting platform before event day.
- Share the joining instructions and an organizer contact in one clear message.
- Confirm any accessibility or participation needs during planning.
- Leave a small arrival buffer so technical checks do not consume the opening.
Build teams that make conversation easy
Mix people thoughtfully and keep the groups within the five-person limit. For colleagues who rarely work together, a short introduction can help: name, location and one place they would enjoy exploring. Avoid using the introduction as a long round of presentations.
Encourage teams to hear more than the first confident answer. One person can read a clue, another suggest what to look for and another summarize the team's idea. Roles can change during the session so quieter participants have several ways to contribute.
Know what happens after booking
StrayPics follows up within 24 hours of confirmed payment to arrange the hosted session and sends joining instructions before the event. Share your preferred city if you have one, but leave room for the available route to be confirmed.
Remote hosting is already included; the separate $350 onsite host add-on does not apply. Keep the final meeting details easy to find and let the host know about any meaningful headcount change. If you need broader company-event support or a more customized corporate program, contact Strayboots to discuss those requirements.
